Fall is the time of year when we still have warm days to remind us of summer, but the evenings turn cool pretty quickly. This is a great time to discover the wonderful wines of France that we hold dear to our hearts here at Parker Payless Liquors. We taste through hundreds of wines a year to bring you the best from around the globe. Here are my picks that are sure to please.
2014 Domaines Paul Mas Estate
Saint Hilaire Chardonnay
Pays d’Oc, Limoux
From world-class winemaker Jean-Claude Mas, this single vineyard Chardonnay will impress you with its laser like focus and finesse. Tropical aromas of pineapple and quince waft from the glass followed by a hint of vanilla and toasted bread. This is a rich and soft wine with flavors of apricot, honey and pineapple. Try this with citrus marinated roast chicken, salads, grilled vegetables or seafood dishes.
Originally $16.99, now only $12.99
2017 Domaine des Blais
Rose Cotes de Provence
Domaine des Blais is a former Roman villa in Provence’s Var region, with vineyards in the limestone foothills of the Massif des Maures, a small mountain range northwest of Saint-Tropez. Delicate scents of cherry blossom, rose petal, and apricot will delight you. The mouthfeel is fruity, savory and very focused. Enjoy this with charcuterie, ham, cheeses, salads or smoked fish. Only $17.99
2016 Domaine Faiveley
This Pinot Noir is sleek and racy. Aromas of cherry, raspberry and currant explode on the bouquet.
The mouthfeel has loads of berry, spice and a touch of orange zest with a modernist feel, reminding you of new-world Pinot Noir but remaining unmistakably Burgundian. The 2016 vintage scored 93 points in Wine Spectator, making it truly a top value. Enjoy this with cedar planked salmon, roast chicken or pork dishes. Only $29.99
